Hey everyone! Welcome to the crazy world of the 37 year old photographer who finally started her photography blog.
Big hoorays, loud euphoric whistling and trumpets, well, trumpeting.
A good beginning should start with a good story.
On my 12th birthday, during my birthday party, I made a rookie photography mistake. When the film in my box camera wasn't budging, I decided to investigate. I promptly opened the camera in broad daylight.
For any of you who have been born before roughly 2000, you will have known that you never ever, never ever ever, never ever ever ever, open a film camera (never), in any place that the light touches.
And that's exactly what I did.
I will spare you the details of what happened behind the scenes - who got a shout, who had a cry, who know has trauma to unpack. Suffice to say, lesson learned.
That was roughly 25 years ago. One would think that as a photographer who's career spans 15 years of active photo work, first as an assistant to a fashion photographer, then as an established wedding photographer and now a brand, family & kid photographer AND a photography lecturer, I would know pretty much everything there is to know about photography.

I always tell my students (and children), never trust someone (or for that matter, be someone) who claims to know everything there is to know about anything. We only know what we know. And we don't know what we don't know. I mean sometimes we also know what we don't know, and that's also a great place to be.
Learning never ends. EVER! It's the best and worst part about being human.
I wanted to embrace that beautiful facet of life through this blog. To teach what I know, glean from those who know more and be willing to keep exploring and sharing the understandings of my field and practice so that others have resources to help their own careers.
